This website is designed to help you better understand federal tax credits for home improvement. Much of this information is directly from the ENERGY STAR website. We’ve consolidated the critical information in this one location to make it easier for you to understand the tax credit opportunity.
Unlike a tax deduction, which reduces the amount of income subject to tax, a tax credit directly reduces the tax itself or it may even increase the amount of your federal tax refund! Plus, you’ll enjoy the comfort and energy savings of your new home improvement.
Any Paragon steel or fiberglass entry door or sidelite that meets ENERGY STAR criteria is considered an Eligible Building Envelope Component that qualifies for federal income tax credit as allowed by Internal Revenue Code Section 25C.
Currently, many Paragon entry doors qualify at the ENERGY STAR standards. All Solid Panel Collection doors and all 1/4 lite designs qualify. Most doors with 1/2 lite glass also qualify. Adding a Low-E or Low-E with Argon option allows even more doors to meet the new standards. Paragon transoms do not meet ENERGY STAR criteria.
We are working on new processes that may help even more Paragon entry door designs qualify for the tax credit, so if your door doesn’t qualify right now, check back before you file your taxes for the latest updates.
